Space New sense of spaciousness
<br /><br />
The Auris has been designed around you, from inside out. And nothing shows this more than the intelligent use of space. From the fully carpeted boot space, to the luxuriously spacious back seats, there’s clever thinking wherever you turn.
<br /><br />
The boot, for instance, expands from 350 litres to an enormous 777 litres using the touch of a simple tilt-down mechanism, and the absence of a transmission tunnel in the back means much more leg room for rear passengers.
<br /><br />
The Auris is also the tallest car in its class, providing maximum space and headroom for all passengers, a higher driver's position, and in turn, giving better visibility of the road. All this without compromising on aerodymamics, fuel consumption and handling.
Door mirrors Mirrors: black or colour-keyed
<br /><br />
Sleek and stylish electrically operated* heated door mirrors grace Auris. Black for Auris grade and colour-keyed for the other grades.
<br /><br />

Interior Fingertip controls Beautiful to the touch, the steering wheel in the Auris has been designed with both luxury and safety in mind. The wheel is finished in the finest leather and, LCA, Sol and Premium Active grades feature silver stitching. In the event of an accident it retracts rapidly away from the driver.
<br /><br />
Fingertip technology allows you to operate the cruise control and variable speed limiter and the MP3 and WMA compatible radio CD player without moving your hands from the wheel.
<br /><br />
And with the optional MultiMode* transmission, paddles on either side of the wheel are used to change gear in an instant.
<br /><br />
(*) Optional on both D-4D 90 and 1.6-litre valvematic VVT-i engines.
Optitron dials & gear shift indicator Inside the car, the Optitron meters with stylish 3-D moulded dials feature advanced Optitron technology to minimise eye strain and clearly provide all the information you need about your journey, whether it’s your average speed or the outside temperature.
<br /><br />
On all manual transmission models, the gear shift indicator located between the Optitron meters uses engine computers and arrow lights pointing up or down, to suggest when to shift gear up or down. Following these visual recommendations leads to optimised fuel economy (up to 8% consumption reduction), a smoother drive, fewer emissions, and consequently, increased environmental performance.
Bridged centre console The focal point of the striking interior is unquestionably the sculptured bridged centre console.
<br /><br />
Being designed around the driver, it brings all the essential controls closer to hand, and in turn, creates a more spacious feel for both the driver and passengers. All of which makes for a more natural, comfortable driving experience.
Transmission New 6-speed transmission
<br /><br />
A choice of new 6-speed manual and MultiMode transmission is available depending on the engine you choose. The clutch-pedalless transmission can be operated as an automatic gearbox or as a manual sequential shift for a more active drive, simply by pressing the paddles on the steering wheel.
Storage Practicality has not been neglected, however, with many practical storage ideas throughout the interior.
<br /><br />
Alongside a glovebox with clever dual opening, deep rear-door pockets and an underseat tray for the front passenger, the striking new sculpted, bridged centre console reveals another cunning storage idea – a compartment for a mobile phone or similar small items. Even an overhead console to hold your sunglasses and cup holders for the front and rear seats are standard on Auris.
Driving Stop & Start System (eco indicator) Leading the way in technology, Toyota introduces a newly cutting-edge Stop & Start System that automatically switches off your engine when the vehicle is stationary*: zero emissions, zero noise and vibration. It restarts seamlessly the moment you engage your clutch, with no delay in power. Feels good, saves fuel. The 1.33-litre engine with Stop & Start System uses just 5.8 litres of petrol to travel 100 km**.
<br /><br />
* Toyota Stop & Start System is designed to work under certain operating conditions, please refer to your retailer for more explanation and/or user manual.

Safety ABS, EBD, BA <strong>Secure braking</strong><br /><br />
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps to stop wheels locking on slippery roads while Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) optimises braking force between the front and rear (as well as the left and right) wheels so that you can successfully negotiate obstacles as you bring the car to a complete stop.
<br /><br />
Brake Assist (BA) is able to detect emergency braking and, in cases where not enough pressure has been applied to the brake pedal, will add additional braking power.
VSC <strong>Keeping on the road</strong><br /><br />
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)* actively intervenes when it senses that the vehicle is at risk of sliding out of control – going too quickly around a corner, for example. It works by automatically applying the brake to the appropriate wheel, to help bring the car back to its intended path.
<br /><br />
*Optionally available.
Traction Control <strong>Better traction and grip</strong><br /><br />
Traction Control (TRC)* uses braking and reduced torque in situations where the wheels lose grip on the road or start spinning and restores traction by redistributing the amount of power to each wheel independently.
<br /><br />
*Optionally available.
SRS Airbags <strong>Minimising risk</strong><br /><br />
For safety, each Auris has seven airbags, including curtain shield airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
