Delivering vehicles & parts

Toyota is always looking to employ the most efficent and environmentally-friendly logistical and delivery methods.

This ranges from the collection and distribution of parts from suppliers to manufacturing plants, to the import and export of new vehicles, right down to the distribution spare parts and accessories to retailers.

We strive to reduce the CO2 impact of our logistics operations in Europe by 10% per transported volume in 2010.

In 2008 we could reduce CO2 emissions of our logistics operations by 15%.

Managing CO2 emissions

VLG continues to analyse its distribution network. At every opportunity VLG seeks to implement the most efficient options thus minimising the number of movements and distances covered. Whenever and wherever possible, the more CO2-friendly modes of vessel and rail transportation are used.

Further decreases of CO2 emissions were achieved because transport volumes on routes with lower CO2 emissions increased as volumes on routes with higher CO2 emissions conversely decreased.

Case study: other environmental achievements

The 2008 pilot in Zeebrugge,Belgium, to recycle wrap guard previously disposed of as general waste has successfully resulted in 11.04 tonnes of wrap guard being recycled so far. This contributed to an impressive 25% reduction in mixed waste disposal at the site.
