About Toyota
Toyota first began selling cars in Europe under an official distributor agreement in 1963. Since 1990, Toyota has invested over €7 billion throughout Europe and currently employs approximately 81,000 people, both directly and through retailer channels.
Toyota’s operations in Europe are supported by a network of 31 National Marketing and Sales Companies in 56 countries, a total of around 3,000 sales outlets, and nine manufacturing plants. In 2009 Toyota and Lexus sales accounted for 882,351 units.
With more than 200,000 hybrids on European roads, both brands play a leading role in developing and making environmental friendly vehicles.
