In low light, Toyota Safety Sense’s Pre-Collision System with Night-time Pedestrian Detection combines a camera with radar technology to detect other vehicles and pedestrians in the car’s path. If a collision is judged to be imminent, the driver is alerted with audio and visual warnings. If the driver fails to respond in time, the brakes engage automatically to prevent or mitigate a collision. Even if the driver does react, additional braking pressure is applied. As well as night-time pedestrian and vehicle detection, the system can detect cyclists and pedestrians in the car's path during the daytime.
Toyota Safety Sense’s Pre-Collision System with Cyclist Detection combines a camera with radar technology to detect cyclists and other vehicles in the road ahead. When the possibility of collision is detected, the driver is alerted with audio and visual warnings. If the driver doesn’t react, the brakes engage automatically. Even if the driver applies the brakes, the system contributes additional braking pressure to prevent or mitigate collision. As well as cyclist and vehicle detection, the system can detect pedestrians in the car’s path.
Toyota Safety Sense’s Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control keeps the car at a pre-selected speed, while maintaining a minimum distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance falls, the system reduces speed automatically, applying the brakes if necessary. If the distance increases again, the car will gradually accelerate until it returns to the chosen cruising speed. If the speed limit changes, the system will detect the change via Road Sign Assist and warn the driver, so he/she can reduce the pre-selected cruising speed using a control on the steering wheel.
Toyota Safety Sense’s Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control enables the car to maintain a constant speed without the use of the accelerator pedal, keeping a minimum, pre-set distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance falls, the system reduces speed to preserve the distance between the car and the vehicle ahead, applying the brakes and slowing to a stop if necessary. If the distance increases, the car will begin accelerating as required, until the traffic flow allows for a return to the pre-selected cruising speed. Should a traffic jam occur, the driver would only need to handle the steering wheel while the system maintains the appropriate distance and speed. Please note that this function is only available on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
