Toyota Safety Sense’s Pre-Collision System with Cyclist and Night-time Pedestrian Detection combines a camera with radar technology to detect pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles on the road, in low light. When the possibility of a collision is realised, you will be alerted with audio and visual warnings and the system will help you react with additional braking pressure to avoid collision.
Using a camera to detect lane markings, the ane Trace Assist technology senses the possibility of deviating from the current lane (or drifting over a non-kerb road edge) and automatically corrects the path of the vehicle, applying a slight torque (yaw effect). This is achieved with additional brake force applied to the inner wheels only, and the driver is informed via the information display indicator. For vehicles without Electric Power Steering.
Toyota Safety Sense’s Full-Range Adaptive Cruise Control enables the car to maintain a constant speed without the use of the accelerator pedal, keeping a minimum, pre-set distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance falls, the system reduces speed to preserve the distance between the car and the vehicle ahead, applying the brakes and slowing to a stop if necessary.
If the distance increases, the car will begin accelerating as required, until the traffic flow allows for a return to the pre-selected cruising speed. Should a traffic jam occur, the driver would only need to handle the steering wheel while the system maintains the appropriate distance and speed. Please note that this function is only available on vehicles with an automatic transmission.
