Toyota winter drivers card

With the comfort and reliability of most modern cars it is easy to forget how important it is to prepare for winter driving.

In the past, winter meant the start of a difficult few months on slippery and icy roads. If you got past the frozen door locks of your car, frequently it wouldn’t start as the battery had also succumbed to the cold. Once on the way, windscreens would mist up as you gently guided your car along with palms sweating, tyres slipping and brakes almost useless.

Today, the cars we drive can make us feel invincible; with their state-of-the-art ventilation, anti-lock brakes and traction control systems at work we don’t even notice the change of seasons.

But we need to take winter driving seriously as we still need to take care in these conditions. With a small amount of planning, a few handy tips and some common sense we should all stay safe throughout the cold dark days of winter.

From making sure you carry some essentials items in your car, to techniques for driving on snow and ice, we have produced two winter driver’s cards that we hope will make light work of winter for you.
