Dakar Rally

Over 40 Years of Toyota at the Dakar Rally
Extreme terrains and terrific speeds. We’ve never been able to resist the allure of the Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest race. Now part of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC), success on the Dakar is about more than just speed. Quality, durability and reliability are vital factors.

In our endless pursuit to make ever-better cars

And that’s why we compete—in our endless pursuit to make ever-better cars—not just for sport. After the 2022 and 2023 Dakar victories and W2RC titles, Toyota’s legendary toughness is on display again with our latest GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U competing in the five-round 2024 FIA W2RC. Bigger, stronger and tougher, the new Hilux is the vehicle of choice for the four-crew TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team, including rising star Seth Quintero and highly experienced former Dakar Rally winner Giniel de Villiers.

Toyota in the World Rally-Raid Championship

After a remarkably successful 2023, winning the Dakar Rally and W2RC titles for the second successive year, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing takes on the challenge of a five-round season. The highlight of the rally-raid year, the Dakar Rally, is followed by the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the Rally-Raid Portugal—the only European W2RC round—and the Desafio Ruta 40 in Argentina before the season draws to a close with the Rally of Morocco. Pushing the limits, W2RC presents a unique set of challenges to test the formidable GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U against.
