Society

Positive social impact through shared value activities with partners
To achieve our mission of Producing Happiness for All, we aim to be the Best Company in Town, improving the lives and well-being of others. We believe that a healthy company needs a healthy society – and vice versa.

Our approach

Driven by our Toyota Way 2020 values, the UN SDGs and the European Pillar of Social Rights, we focus on three priorities:

Quality employment

Starting from fundamental human rights as a foundation, health, safety and well-being are essential for employees to thrive, overcome obstacles, and to produce happiness for all. Our holistic approach to well-being is the key to enable high performance and innovation. We also help develop purpose and meaning by engaging employees in voluntary activities in the community. Volunteering is good for society, for the company, and for employees’ well-being. As society and Toyota evolve, we focus on an inclusive workforce, where up- and re-skilling programmes combined with flexible working programmes ensure Quality Employment for All.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diverse companies are essential. That’s why we set our sights on reflecting the diversity of the society around us in the workplace. We develop programmes that facilitate this ambition. We aim to create a positive impact in society while striving to become a better company in the future. One example is our “Girls STEM the Future” programme. It aims to break stereotypes by bringing role models in contact with youth. Development stories are shared, along with examples of the wide range of career opportunities in society and at Toyota.

Sustainable Innovation

Unleashing the potential of our employees and society is at the core of our Sustainable Innovation strategy. We boost internal innovation to bring innovative mobility solutions to the market to realise our Mobility for All vision. We support start-ups that aim to contribute to society through circular economy, carbon neutral or inclusive mobility solutions, during their initial growth and development. We develop our culture to promote faster decision-making, agile and innovative teamwork. And we engage with our partners and wider stakeholders to promote innovation and technology development in society.
