Working today for a cleaner tomorrow

We make every effort to ensure the way we manage, monitor and review our environmental performance meets the independent national and international standards and laws.

Toyota Europe Environmental Policy

Our environmental policy helps us create an environmentally responsible business. It is the foundation stone for the way we manage environmental matters throughout our business, in accordance with international and national standards and regulations.

/
Toyota Earth Charter

The Toyota Earth Charter sets out our global approach to managing environmental matters. It expresses our central environmental philosophy and our commitment to helping build a sustainable, zero-emissions society.

/
Sustainable Purchasing Guidelines

We support our Suppliers and Business Partners to gain full understanding of our expectations towards sustainable development and good corporate citizenship, to assure legal compliance at all times.

/
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

With our Eco-Vehicle Assessment System (Eco-VAS) we go beyond the usual LCA by evaluating the environmental impact of our vehicles right from resource extraction through to production, use, recycling and disposal. We have been carrying out Life Cycle Assessments of our vehicles since 1997. Every new generation vehicle achieves a better environmental performance than its predecessor. Toyota’s LCA methodology was reviewed and approved by the independent body of TÜV Rheinland and has been certified to comply with ISO 14040/14044 standards.

ISO 14001 certified

ISO 14001 is a globally recognised certificate for businesses and organisations that meet its standards for environmental management. Our ISO system supports our commitment to continual improvement in our environmental performance. Our European Head Office & Technical Centre, 14 Parts Logistics Centres and 7 Vehicle Logistics Centres are all ISO 14001 certified. In addition, all our National Marketing and Sales Companies (NMSCs) and European Manufacturing Companies (EMCs) are certified by other national certification bodies.

CSR global strategy

More sustainability management methods

Our work in sustainability is rooted in Toyota's Guiding Principles. These principles underpin our Global Vision and, together with the TME Code of Conduct and the Toyota Way, they set out the values and approaches that we expect our employees to put into practice every day. The principles form part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy.
