On 10 April 2012, Toyota introduced the 100 % hybrid technology applied to the Yaris. The Valenciennes site became the first European automotive site to produce a hybrid vehicle in the B segment.
With 29,856 vehicles produced in the first year, the hybrid technology quickly conquered the European market. In 2012, 15% of the production was dedicated to hybrid models, increasing to 50% in 2018.
The Yaris 4 and Yaris Cross are equipped with the latest generation of the Toyota hybrid system, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with three-cylinder Atkinson cycle, to reduce friction and mechanical losses to optimize combustion speed. It thus offers a high torque at low revs and a remarkable sobriety. This is how the Yaris has gained power (from 100 to 116 hp) while reducing its CO2 emissions thanks to a consumption reduction of 20%.
Producing clean vehicles on a clean site has always been a leitmotiv for TMMF. Designed on the concept "green, clean and lean factory of the 21st century"? THE Valenciennes site constantly aims for the highest environmental performance. After achieving 100% waste recovery in 2007, being autonomous in industrial water for the production of Yaris and Yaris Cross and using 100% green energy, TMMF aims for carbon neutrality in 2030 and zero CO2 emissions in 2040.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing France employs approx. 5000 people and currently produces nearly 1250 cars/ day in 3 shifts for the European market.
