Toyota employees join Special Olympics athletes in training

What better way to understand and embrace each other’s differences?

Partnership with Special Olympics is something we keep really close to our heart and we support the organisation and the athletes on every occasion.

Training day with Toyota employees

In the run-up to the Special Olympics Belgium National Games in May and the World Games in Berlin in June this year, athletes of the Special Olympics Belgium team visited Toyota headquarters  for a day of training - with us, Toyota employees. With the athletes we played table tennis  and competed on stationary bikes, pedalling as hard as possible in order to be the first one to pop the balloon attached to the bike. The friendly competition sowed the seeds of new friendships.

Unified Sports Day

For  the ‘Unified Sports Day’ with Special Olympics, we chose 21st of March, the World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. The day was an opportunity for us to interact with the Special Olympics athletes, play alongside them and understand and embrace differences amongst us all. Toyota's vision of future is an inclusive society where everyone can unleash their potential through mobility. This is why our partnership with Special Olympics means so much to  us and we decided to organise the Unified Sports Day in our own offices to motivate our employees to be part of this initiative.
“We would like to thank the athletes for coming over and spending this enjoyable and memorable time with us. Your determination and smiles created such an engaging atmosphere – it was amazing.”
