I’m Lucia, from Northern Spain, and I’m Head of Operations Control at TME, and have been here for 16 years. I’m an industrial engineer with an MBA in business, so I’m interested in how things work and how we can make then better.

How and why did you join Toyota?
-
Before TME I worked for a supplier to Toyota working here in Belgium. I had the opportunity to compare how both companies worked and it wasn’t long before I applied to join TME. I realised that I was looking for a company that had values that resonated with me and I have found them here.They are respect and a drive for continuous improvement. And at TME they are more than just words – I see them applied every day. It’s just the way we live and the way we act. I have a belief that everything is possible together, and that’s true of TME and in my personal life.

Can you briefly describe your journey through Toyota until now?

I joined in 2005 as a Senior Specialist mainly in a co ordinating role in vehicle launches. I wanted something that was a bit more on the engineering manufacturing side, so I moved to vehicle logistics as a senior manager responsible for Kaizen – that’s the Toyota word for continuous improvement. Here I developed a department from the ground up focussing on these developing communications and improving performance with our suppliers and providers.I joined in 2005 as a Senior Specialist mainly in a co ordinating role in vehicle launches. What's it like to work at TME?

It’s important that all cultures are represented here, and we work in harmony with all nationalities and genders – we are completely diverse and inclusive at TME. It’s a key topic for us and the more we work together the more we all benefit. Respect is part of our Toyota Way, which is changing with the company as we move towards being a mobility company. What do you enjoy most about your job?

Toyota and represent the company at events and presentations. I’m passionate about our business and I think that for young people in particular we are a company waiting for them to bring their talent and energy to us to embrace the future.As a company we have changed so much in the 16 years I have been here, in the way we work, the way we partner with our suppliers, in diversity and inclusion and in our mission, which is to bring happiness to all, beginning with our employees – so we are safe, stable and able to offer great opportunities to build careers and to contribute to society.
