As part of Toyota’s commitment to quality and safety, Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Takata airbag inflators in vehicles.
The vehicles involved in Europe
At Toyota, the safety of our customers is our number one priority, which is why we continually monitor the performance of our vehicles through a number of sources. If we become aware of a certain component or aspect of our vehicles that no longer meets our strict standards we will take appropriate action, as we have done in this instance.
|Model||Impacted airbag||Production period|
|Corolla Matrix||Passenger airbag||2003-2011|
|Avensis Verso||Passenger airbag||2001-2005|
Customers will be contacted by each national distributor in the countries. Airbag inflator replacement will be performed at no charge to customers.
You will be able to check if your vehicle is involved in these recalls on this page.
In the meantime if you have any questions please contact your national distributor or alternatively please contact your local Toyota dealer.
In the involved vehicles a safety defect may arise in certain Takata air bag inflators due to inflator propellant degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling. This may result in an inflator rupture when the air bag deploys.
